IMWAYR: September Reading

It’s Monday! What are you Reading? is a weekly blog hop hosted by Kellee and Ricki of Unleashing Readers. The original IMWAYR, with an adult literature focus, was started by Sheila at Book Journeys and is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

Head over to Unleashing Readers to join the link-up and share your reading!

It’s September! I cannot believe how much back-to-school season has for me to do. I have been reading, but not writing, and it’s time to remedy that. How have you been?

NetGalley: It’s also time to put NetGalley first. I’ve missed some fabulous opportunities by keeping NetGalley last on my list. This week, I logged in to find Licorice by Kara LaReau and illustrated by Kelly Murphy still available. I love this book! Kitty finally finds a home with Max, but a realization comes quickly — there’s a former cat who lived at 5 Manderley Road. Kitty smells licorice. Everywhere. As Kitty meets other animals at the address, she realizes that she is dealing with more than what she bargained for by coming home with Max. OOH, my middle schoolers will love this creepy tale when it releases in October.

Libro.fm: I am cheering for The Misfits, and as the series continues, I continue to recommend Lisa Yee’s cast of characters to my middle schoolers. Dan Santat illustrates these books, which makes them even more fun to read. I just started listening to book three, The Sea Monster Conundrum. The book is narrated by Cindy Kay. If you’re looking for an engaging new series for your middle grade students or children at home, I highly recommend The Misfits.
