Yay, Spain! The FIFA World Cup grabbed my attention for the first time this year, and, as promised, I gathered some nonfiction titles that I thought would be helpful to share.

FIFA World Cup 2026: The Official Guide. This has player information and statistics that soccer fans will love.

My First Book of Soccer: A Rookie Book. (Sports Illustrated Kids, 2017.) This book is geared towards the younger reader, but it has basic interesting information about the game of soccer and is perfect as an introductory read.

One Goal: How Soccer Can Help Save the Planet, by Heather Camlot and Drew Shannon. (Groundwood Books, 2026.) I’m so happy to see the JLG (Junior Library Guild) sticker here! Soccer AND saving the planet? Yes! I want to know more, and I’m sure my students will, too. Also a School Library Journal starred review! Text-heavy, but soccer fans will like this one.
