Happy New Year, fellow readers!
In an attempt to be more organized about my reading this year, I’m trying something new (we’ll see how long this lasts). Each week I’ll read physical books, listen to an audiobook, and read a NetGalley book, and then share my thoughts. This week I’m still working on 2020 titles while diving into my already-growing 2021 TBR list.
NetGalley Reading: I finished Booked: The Graphic Novel by Kwame Alexander, with art by Dawud Anyabwile. This dynamic duo already wowed me with The Crossover: Graphic Novel Adaptation in 2019 and now they are back to retell the story of soccer player, Nick Hall. I LOVED the story all over again and I can’t wait for students to see this one on January 4, 2022 (yes, we have to wait another year).

Before the Ever After was such a good (but painful) read! I hope your new reading plan works out well. I’ve been trying to figure out what to do about all the new books piling up here. I’m thinking of not letting myself buy more books until I finish half the ones I’ve purchased or been given in the last two years. LOL Hope 2021 is a wonderful reading year for you, Jennifer!

I had no idea there were graphic novel versions of The Crossover and Booked—that’s awesome! I’m hoping to read Before the Ever After soon as well. I hope your new weekly reading scheme helps keep things organized! Also, I love your redesigned blog—it looks wonderful! Thanks for the great post!

The Booked graphic novel is definitely on my TBR list. Curious to see what you think of the Woodson title.
